About The Position

MNGI Digestive Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) interested in a 0.8 FTE, 0.9 FTE, or 1.0 FTE position. This role primarily operates out of the Vadnais Heights MNGI Digestive Health location and also involves work at the hospital. The APP will provide gastroenterology healthcare, evaluating health problems and collaborating with MNGI gastroenterologists on treatment plans or referrals. The position requires regular attendance and the ability to perform essential functions, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities. The APP will work in clinics and supporting hospitals, completing initial and follow-up consultations, patient histories, physical exams, and patient teaching. Documentation must be appropriate and timely for care consistency and billing. Responsibilities include initiating and managing therapies for preventative and chronic GI disease, issuing prescription orders and managing refills within 24 hours, and reviewing labs within 72 hours. The APP will utilize formularies and guidelines to help patients manage costs, proficiently use electronic medical records, and apply MNGI disease guidelines and protocols. They will also coordinate in-patient video capsules and procedures and take hospital coverage call as assigned. Additional duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Requirements

Certified Nurse Practitioner license or Certified Physician Assistant license is required.
Must maintain a BLS certification.

Responsibilities

Provides gastroenterology health care to individuals, evaluating health problems and instituting therapy in collaboration with a MNGI gastroenterologist and/or referring for other care.
Works in our clinics and/or the hospitals in which we support
Completes initial and follow up consultation with patients in the hospital and clinical setting in collaboration with a MNGI gastroenterologist
Completes patient history, physical exams and provide patient teaching as applicable
Documents patient encounters appropriately and in a timely manner to ensure consistency of care and adequate billing
Initiation and management of therapies for preventative and chronic GI disease
Issuing prescription orders for medications and completing prescription refill requests in 24 hours
Review and sign off on labs within 72 hours
Use formularies and guidelines to help patients manage the cost of their care

Uses MNGI disease guidelines and protocols in making medical decisions
Coordinates in-patient video capsules and procedures in hospital as defined by current guidelines
