About The Position
This is a Locum Tenens position in a hospital setting in New York, requiring coverage for surgical first assist and medical/surgical floor duties. The role involves providing care to adult patients with acute medical and surgical conditions across General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, and OB/GYN case mixes. The coverage period is from September 28 to October 9, 2026, with potential for ongoing work. The schedule includes weekday and weekend call.
Requirements
- Active New York license required
- Board Certified
- AHA BLS, ACLS, and ATLS required
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Surgical First Assist experience
- Epic experience required
- Robotics experience required
Nice To Haves
- Orthopedic experience strongly preferred
- Orthopedic procedures (preferred)
- OB/GYN procedures, including C-sections
- Hip fracture cases
- Cauterization
- Hemostasis
- Wound closure (sutures, staples, adhesives)
- Surgical suction, drainage, and irrigation
- Patient positioning and immobilization
Responsibilities
- Provide Surgical First Assist coverage in the operating room
- Provide Medical/Surgical floor coverage
- Round on hospitalized patients
- Manage patient orders, consults, and discharges
- Assist with General Surgery, Orthopedic, and OB/GYN cases
- Participate in weekend and weekday call coverage
- Document patient care accurately in Epic
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams
