Physician Assistant – Neurosurgery
About The Position
UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is seeking a highly motivated Physician Assistant to join our growing neurosurgery team. The PA will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, comprehensive care to patients with complex neurological and spine disorders. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, assisting in both surgical and non-surgical management. The responsibilities include outpatient clinic twice per week, in-hospital rounds, and surgical assist in neurosurgical cases. The ideal candidate will join a collaborative team comprised of 4 Neurosurgeons and 4 Advanced Practice Providers.
Requirements
- Licensed as a Physician Assistant in Illinois or eligible for licensure
- Certification as a Physician Assistant
- Surgical First Assist certification required
- Strong clinical decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based care
Nice To Haves
- Experience in Neurosurgery, preferred
- Surgical experience is preferred, but motivated candidates are encouraged to apply
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including history-taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing interpretation for neurosurgery consults
- Assist in the management of preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative neurosurgery patients
- Surgical first assist in the operating room for neurosurgery cases
- Full Time; 5 days per week plus one weekend per month of Neurosurgery call
- Outpatient clinic weekly
- Weekend call coverage, with Attending, one weekend per month
