About The Position

The Neurosciences Service Line at Corewell Health is seeking a Physician Assistant to join their growing Neurosurgery APP team. This position will primarily function in the inpatient setting, with future plans to expand to the outpatient setting. The role involves working collaboratively with Nurse Practitioners and Neurosurgery physicians, and new APPs can expect a 4-6 month training period led by experienced senior APPs. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work independently after training and demonstrate excellent clinical acumen.

Requirements

• Required Master's Degree Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program
• LIC-Physician Assistant - STATE_MI State of Michigan
• CRT-Physician Asst Certified (PA-C) - NCCPA National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross
• CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association
• CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association

Responsibilities

• 12 Hour shift length.
• 14 shifts over a 28-day period, with the expectation that up to 3 will be night shifts.
• Weekend coverage - current expectation is 1 in 4 weekends (subject to change as team expands)
• Holiday coverage – current expectation is 2-3 system holiday per year (subject to change as team expands)
• Management of primary Neurosurgery ICU & floor patients
• Performing bed-side procedure
• Completing neurosurgery consults
• OR case coverage providing first assist
• Neurotrauma Pager coverage
• Education for our MSU/Spectrum Health Neurosurgery Residents
• Collaboration with other providers & members of our health care team to deliver quality & safe patient care.
