About The Position

The Physician Assistant (PA) Lead is a licensed provider responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care, and ongoing evaluation. The PA Lead will perform additional leadership duties on the team/department through indirect management of other Advanced Practice Providers and/or Allied Health Professionals. This role requires direct patient care, counseling, and teaching in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings. Requirements

  • Master's Degree Physician Assistant required
  • Physician Assistant [State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • Physician's Assistant Experience: 4 -6 Years required
  • Skill in clinical practice and maintenance of such skills.
  • Skill in written and verbal communication with colleagues, management, patients and the public.
  • Ability to coach and develop others.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, problem solving, and decision-making in emergency situations.
  • Ability to maintain patience and composure in difficult situations.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
  • Indirectly manages other Advanced Practice Providers and Allied Health Professionals.
  • Provides support in staffing/scheduling as needed.
  • Becomes involved in daily clinical problem solving, on-boarding, and metric tracking.
  • Provides input on appraisals, staff development, discipline and hiring and termination decisions.
