About The Position

Sarasota Memorial First Physicians Group is seeking a certified Physician Assistant to join a hospital employed dedicated Laryngology practice. The clinic offers a comprehensive voice, airway, and swallowing program within a collaborative, well-established practice. This role provides access to state-of-the-art equipment and an in-office procedure room, including videostroboscopy and laryngeal procedural equipment. The position involves multidisciplinary collaboration with Speech-Language Pathology and dedicated clinical support staff. There is no ER call or hospital rounding required, with equitable practice call for general ENT. The Physician Assistant (PA) reflects the mission, vision, and values of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System and adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program. The PA III typically works in a multidisciplinary setting including first assist, procedures (chest tube, line placement, etc.), and multiple inpatient units managing patient care, which includes critical care, trauma, and surgery. A PA is a graduate with a master’s degree or certificate from an accredited physician assistant program. The PA functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality, cost-effective advanced care to patients. The PA is licensed by the Florida Board of Medicine and the Board of Osteopathic Medicine to perform medical services delegated by the supervising physician(s).

Requirements

  • Current NCCPA Certification.
  • Active or eligible for licensure by the State of Florida.
  • BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Bachelor degree from accredited physician assistant training program.
  • Licensed by the Florida Board of Medicine and the Board of Osteopathic Medicine.

  • Prefer demonstrated skills in documentation in medical records to substantiate accurate billing.

  • Prefer effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations.
  • Prefer knowledge of state, federal and local health care agencies and programs.

Responsibilities

  • First assist in surgeries.
  • Perform procedures such as chest tube insertion and line placement.
  • Manage patient care across multiple inpatient units, including critical care, trauma, and surgery.
  • Provide advanced care to patients in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Perform medical services delegated by supervising physician(s).
