About The Position

William Osler Health System (Osler) is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide quality patient-focused care in the Emergency Department. Working within an inter-professional collaborative model and under the supervision of a physician, the Physician Assistant will perform a range of duties including patient interviews, physical examinations, interpreting findings, organizing investigations, performing controlled acts under medical directives, counselling patients, and organizing follow-up. Requirements

  • Graduate of the Physician Assistant Bachelors degree at McMaster University or the University of Toronto consortium
  • Certified through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant
  • Certified or eligible to be certified through the Physician Assistant's Certification Council
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Paediatric Advanced Life Support and Neonatal Advanced Life Support are mandatory
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with respect in both a verbal and written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health disciplines
  • Demonstrated competency to perform complete and appropriate clinical assessment and development of a treatment plan in accordance with medical directives
  • Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative medical model of care with all members of the health care team
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record

  • Experience working in an emergency department preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducting patient interviews and taking medical histories
