About The Position

We are seeking a Physician Assistant specializing in Emergency Medicine for a Locum Tenens position at a Critical Access ED in Onamia, MN. This role involves providing supplemental coverage for a busy emergency department that sees 20-30 patients per day, ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. The position offers flexibility in shift schedules, including mids starting at noon (8, 9, or 10-hour shifts) and 12-hour day/night shifts (8a-8p or 8p-8a), with coverage needed Monday through Sunday. Telemedicine support is available for phone consults, and inpatient support is available for admissions. The department is staffed with 24-hour MD support on-site or within 5 minutes, and an additional PA on the mids shift. Specialty backup includes FM, ED Physician, Cardiology Telehealth, Stroke Telehealth, and Vel Telemedicine. The case mix includes Critical Access ED, trauma cases, and general emergency medicine. Emergency ultrasound is required, and the department is equipped with a helipad and ambulance transfer capability. The ED has 7 rooms, including 2 trauma bays, and the hospital has 57 beds. The Trauma Level is IV. EMR systems used are Medhost, EDIS, and Athena, with training provided. Two Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) coverage are needed monthly. Hospital privileges are available.

BLS Certification
ACLS Certification
ATLS or CALS Certification
Minimum 3 years Emergency Medicine experience

Responsibilities

Provide clinical coverage in the Emergency Medicine department.
Manage patient care for a volume of 20-30 patients per day, covering pediatrics to geriatrics.
Perform emergency ultrasound.
Handle critical access ED cases, trauma cases, and general emergency medicine.
Utilize telemedicine support for phone consults.
Coordinate with inpatient support for admissions.
Collaborate with on-site MDs and additional PA support.
Liaise with specialty backup teams as needed.
