About The Position

The Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistant will be required to perform, order, and interpret diagnostic, and therapeutic investigations/interventions. The duties of this position can/will include performing history and physical exams in a variety of settings. Physician Assistants/Clinical Assistants will be required to attend clinical and educational rounds. Administrative requirements will include standard-of-practice recordings of all patient encounters, these methods may require dictating or utilizing electronic medical records where/when available. Assistants must be able to communicate effectively in English with other members of interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Requirements

• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba as a Physician Assistant or Clinical Assistant.
• Eligible for a Medical Staff Appointment with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
• Graduate of a Physician Assistant Educational Program acceptable to the College and eligible for national certification (for Physician Assistants).
• Graduate of an accredited Medical School in Canada or abroad (for Clinical Assistants).
• At least one of the following for Clinical Assistants: Clinical Assistant Assessment, NAC OSCE, or LMCC.
• Proven knowledge and ability in relationship-building, critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and focus work-related activities to effectively and efficiently achieve service goals and produce expected results/outcomes.
• Commitment to the principles that guide Mount Carmel Clinic, as reflected in the history, vision, mission, and values.
• Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions and the impact of colonization on the health and well-being of Indigenous individuals and families.
• Proven ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment with respect, professionalism, cooperation, sensitivity, and cultural awareness.
• Strong knowledge, commitment, and demonstrated ability to apply diversity, equity, cultural safety, pro-choice, social determinants of health, population health, harm reduction, trauma-informed, and community development principles in all aspects of the work.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in the use of computer systems.
• Subject to Criminal Record, Child and Adult Abuse Registry checks.
