About The Position

As a Physician Assistant, your strong interpersonal and communication skills, clinical judgment, and commitment to patient-centered care will support the delivery of high-quality, compassionate breast care in an outpatient setting. This is a full-time position located at Rochester General Hospital in the Surgery department, with a schedule of Monday-Friday, Days. The role requires knowledge of the medical management of adult patients, a passion for promoting health and wellness in patients with breast cancer and those at increased risk, and an interest in providing patient-centered care through a collaborative, multidisciplinary team approach. Excellent communication, patient education, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with a compassionate, detail-oriented approach committed to delivering high-quality care.

Requirements

  • MS: Nursing (Required)
  • PA-C - Certified Physician Assistant - National Committee on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • RPA - Registered Physician Assistant - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
  • Knowledge of the medical management of adult patients.
  • Excellent communication, patient education, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive pre- and post-operative evaluations, provide patient education, and manage acute post-operative care.
  • Evaluate patients for hereditary breast cancer risk, review genetic histories, and determine the need for additional genetic evaluation or testing.
  • Counsel patients on breast cancer risk reduction strategies and coordinate referrals to appropriate specialists and support services as needed.
  • Perform in-office procedures. Opportunities to participate in surgical care may be available based on departmental needs.
