About The Position

The Utah Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a dependable, organized and dedicated Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant for the Correctional Facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Clinical APRN/PA is responsible to provide direct care to patients at the Utah State Correctional Facility which includes patient exams, prescribing proper medications, order proper tests, determine diagnoses and treatment.

Requirements

  • Masters in nursing for medical.
  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse/Physician Assistant license in the State of Utah, or able to obtain State NP/PA & DEA license I prior to start.
  • A Controlled Substance license and a DEA certification with no disciplinary action.
  • Can pass a drug test and background check.
  • Licensure as a Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical consultation in specialized areas of knowledge.
  • Provide direct and/or indirect patient care oriented toward improving or maintaining health and preventing illness.
  • Have experience working with a full healthcare team.
  • Study and practice evidence based medicine.
  • Provide in-services for direct care staff on methods of patient care; oversees direct care staff in administering prescribed treatments.
  • Coordinate clinical activities and follow-up.
  • Maintain and updates patient charts, records, and information.
  • Assess client/patient needs. Develops and implements plans to meet those needs.
  • Recommend, advocate, and/or implement new and/or changes to existing policies and procedures, laws, or regulations.
