About The Position

This is a locum tenens position for a Physician Anesthesiologist at Mercy Council Bluffs, a hospital setting that performs approximately 3,600 inpatient and outpatient surgeries annually. The physician will be responsible for independent cases and will be covering a staffing shortage. The role requires availability starting ASAP, with ongoing needs in July and beyond. The schedule includes weekly coverage from Friday 5 PM to Sunday 7 AM, with flexibility for an earlier start on Friday if the provider is available. The physician will be performing a variety of procedures including Ortho, Labor & Delivery, Spine, GI, Gynecology, Urology, Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, bariatric bypass, and minimal vascular cases. The facility uses the EPIC EMR system and has support staff including CRNAs and Anesthesia Techs.

Requirements

Board Certified in Anesthesiology.
Completion of Residency or Fellowship.
BLS certification.
DEA certification.
Iowa License Preferred (IMLC or willingness to obtain IA license considered).
Clean Malpractice record preferred.
Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of presentation date.
Availability at time of name clear.

Nice To Haves

Iowa License.
Willingness to cover at Immanuel in Omaha, NE.
Provider willing to start earlier on Friday for day shift.

Responsibilities

Perform independent anesthesia cases.
Provide coverage for Ortho, Labor & Delivery, Spine, GI, Gynecology, Urology, Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, bariatric bypass, and minimal vascular cases.
Hold pager for nightly and holiday call.
Respond to call-back situations.
Complete required orientation and training.
Adhere to facility policies and procedures.
