Requirements

  • Education: Associate’s degree Required; Graduate of a Program in Discipline Required
  • Licenses: Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of MI
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)

Responsibilities

  • Supports Physical Therapist in assessing the condition of patient, planning and following treatment programs,
  • preparing treatment schedules and keeping accurate electronic documentation on the progress of treatment and goals.
  • Assists and administers therapeutic procedures under a Physical Therapist's supervision.
  • Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing.
  • Can perform patient treatments in Skilled Nursing Facilities.
  • Provides direct restorative care and delegated therapy tasks including passive range of motion, active range of motion, ambulation, activities of daily living training, special positioning, splint application, restorative dining, bladder/bowel management and/or retraining in the skilled nursing and long term care setting.
  • Acts as a resource to staff.
  • Provides education, guidance, and direction to staff regarding mobility, use of assistive devices and lifts.
  • Actively participates in weekly IDT and QAPI meetings.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
