Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) - Acute Inpatient, PRN
About The Position
UVA Health seeks a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant to join our Acute Inpatient Therapies team. In this role, you will focus on helping patients recover from injuries, illnesses, or surgeries and improve their physical, emotional, and functional wellbeing. Physical therapy assistants are responsible for improving patient mobility, strength, and function through exercise, manual therapy, and education. You will work with patients recovering from injuries or surgeries, those with chronic conditions, or those seeking to enhance physical performance and reduce pain. A therapy assistant works under the direction and supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree
- None (experience)
- Licensed to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant within the Commonwealth of Virginia and/or certification with the appropriate credentialing Board of the profession.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
- Valid Driver's License is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Physical Therapist in performing selected components of physical therapy intervention to include treatment measurement and data collection
- Implement established therapy treatment plans and provide therapy interventions
- Document patient care according to professional standards and departmental guidelines
- Actively participate in quality improvement program development and professional growth activities
