About The Position

Assists the Physical Therapist in treatment of patients by physical measures, therapeutic exercise, and rehabilitative procedures with or without assistive devices for the purpose of preventing, correcting, or alleviating any disability as allowed under Ohio law. Maintains a high level of professional expertise and assumes responsibility for professional growth and development. Assists Physical Therapist in administering treatment to optimize recovery of patients of various age categories as determined by department supervisor. Maintains and completes effective written documentation of patient performance and progress which are timely, accurate, complete, and informative. Consults with therapist regarding patient progress, adverse reactions, new developments, treatment changes and readiness for discharge. Effectively incorporates patient/caregiver education techniques (including home exercise programs) to allow maximal participation in patient care considering financial, family, and environmental factors affecting participation. Orders and fits adaptive equipment and ambulatory aids and then trains patients in the use of them. Assists in clerical duties as needed including scheduling, billing, filing, computer data entry. Assists with quality control, maintenance, cleaning of department and department equipment. Communicates with patients, family/caregivers, referring practitioners and other hospital personnel to give/receive input to maximize efficient quality patient care. Provides education to students, nursing staff, and other health care professionals as necessary, assists in orienting and mentoring staff. Participates in performance improvement activities, assists in monitoring compliance with JCAHO accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards. Maintains competency and enhances professional growth and development through continuing education, conferences, and seminars to satisfy CEU requirements necessary for continued Ohio licensure. Performs duties in cost-effective manner, in an effort to avoid waste of hospital resources without jeopardizing quality of care and service. Supports and upholds established hospital and department policies, procedures, goals, safety, environmental and infection control objectives. Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited Physical Therapy Assisting program
  • Associate Degree in Physical Therapy Assisting
  • Current licensure or license eligibility in State of Ohio
