In the occupational health clinic, the physical therapy assistant performs testing as part of preemployment, post-accident and annual testing. Physical therapy assistant will be trained to perform strength testing for post offer purposes, breath alcohol, drug Screen collections, audiometer, respirator fit testing and spirometry testing. The physical therapy assistant will assist in the flow of the clinic by greeting customers, answering phones, communicating with patients and employers. The Physical therapy assistant will be certified to perform urine collections and breath alcohol testing for both DOT and NON DOT standards. Will be knowledgeable of the post offer physical process and will play a significant role in the testing of the patient. Will provide medical assistance to the physician during workers compensation care and sports medicine patients. Will document on the services and complete documentation on a daily basis so charges can flow within the EMR system. The physical therapy assistant will maintain knowledge of the needs and customer satisfaction of the companies contracted for services. The physical therapy assistant will perform patient education as directed by the physician including crutch training, splint application, brace application. The physical therapy assistant will assist in donning and doffing casting applications. The position also requires assisting the physician in performing in office procedures including but not limited to joint injections, draining of fluid, ultrasound guidance.
