About The Position

Provides direct and indirect patient care in specific treatment, support and maintenance of rehabilitation services programs; provides educational support to students; assists the rehabilitation therapist with assessment and supervision of students and volunteers; assists in administrative and clerical functions within rehabilitation services department. The starting pay for this position is $24.07/hour which includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements

  • License to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of New York.
  • Associates degree from an approved physical therapist assistant program.
  • As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain and maintain New York State licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.
  • Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) with current state licensure.
  • Strong interest in pulmonary rehabilitation and cardiopulmonary patient care.
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to the ongoing development of the pulmonary rehabilitation program.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to monitor patient volumes, scheduling, and program workflow.
  • Experience or interest in working with patients with COPD, and other chronic respiratory diseases including lung cancer.
  • Ability to monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, symptoms, and patient responses to exercise safely and effectively.
  • Strong patient education skills related to exercise, breathing techniques, energy conservation, and healthy lifestyle behaviors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Collaborative team player who works effectively with physical therapists, nurses, and physicians.
  • Committed to providing compassionate, high-quality patient care and improving patient outcomes.
