About The Position
WE ARE SEEKING A COMPASSIONATE AND MOTIVATED PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT (PTA) TO JOIN OUR TOTAL REHAB CARE TEAM. UNDER THE DIRECTION AND SUPERVISION OF LICENSED PHYSICAL THERAPISTS, YOU WILL PROVIDE HANDS-ON TREATMENT AND FOLLOW-UP CARE TO PATIENTS ACROSS THE LIFESPAN—FROM NEWBORNS TO GERIATRIC POPULATIONS. YOUR WORK WILL PLAY A CRITICAL ROLE IN HELPING PATIENTS ACHIEVE THEIR HIGHEST POSSIBLE LEVEL OF FUNCTION AND INDEPENDENCE. THIS POSITION IS IDEAL FOR A PTA WHO VALUES TEAMWORK, PATIENT-CENTERED CARE, AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH WITHIN A COLLABORATIVE REHAB ENVIRONMENT.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program
- Associate of Arts degree required
- Active Maryland Physical Therapy Assistant license or temporary Maryland license pending State Board examination or reciprocity
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- No prior clinical experience required beyond educational training
- Ability to perform all job functions independently after initial orientation period
- Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn and use electronic medical records and point-of-care documentation systems
- Comfortable working with diverse patient populations and care needs
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in accordance with the Physical Therapist’s established plan of care and Maryland licensure guidelines
- Administer therapeutic interventions, monitor patient status, and report changes requiring reassessment
- Collect objective data and document patient progress accurately and timely
- Assist with discharge planning, referrals, and coordination of continuing care
- Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, exercises, and equipment use
- Collaborate with Physical Therapists, physicians, and interdisciplinary rehab team members
- Participate in case conferences and team meetings
- Supervise and mentor aides, students, observers, and volunteers as assigned
