The Physical Therapy Assistant will provide physical therapy treatment to patients in accordance with an established treatment plan as directed by a physical therapist. This role requires demonstrating knowledge and ability to apply therapeutic principles and practices within the scope of professional limitations, and progressing patients skillfully and safely through treatment levels. The assistant will consult with the supervising Physical Therapist regarding patient progress, changes in condition, or treatment revisions. Responsibilities include documenting all treatments and patient interactions according to UHealth policies, developing effective communication with patients, families, and the rehabilitation team, and providing relevant education to patients and families. The role also involves utilizing treatment tools and equipment safely, maintaining productivity, and participating in quality and safety improvement activities. Maintaining patient confidentiality according to federal, local, and state guidelines, including HIPAA, and adhering to University and unit-level policies are also key aspects of this position.
