The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) is seeking a compassionate, dedicated Part-Time Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our exceptional Home Health team. As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide therapeutic interventions that help patients recover from illness, injury, surgery, or chronic health conditions. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work independently while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to create positive outcomes for patients and their families.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Certified or licensed as a Physical Therapy Assistant (CPTA or equivalent) current Iowa Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in good standing.
  • Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting and or previous home health experience.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Ability to travel throughout Johnson County.
  • Physical ability to assist patients with transfers, mobility training, gait training, therapeutic exercise, and activities of daily living.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to successfully pass all pre-employment screenings, including a criminal background check, reference checks, and any other screenings required by VNA and applicable state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Implement treatment plans established by the Physical Therapist
  • Assist patients in improving strength, mobility, balance, and functional independence
  • Monitor and document patient progress and response to treatment
  • Educate patients and caregivers on exercises and safety techniques
  • Communicate effectively with the care team to ensure continuity of care
  • Help patients achieve their rehabilitation goals in the comfort of their homes
