About The Position

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Physical Therapy has an exciting opportunity for a full time Physical Therapist Assistant 2 to work in Doral, FL. The Physical Therapy Assistant 2 supports patient rehabilitative activities with increased independence and clinical judgment. The incumbent assists in implementing treatment plans, facilitates therapeutic exercises, and contributes to patient evaluation and progress monitoring.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in relevant field required
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required
  • Valid State of Florida Physical Therapy Assistant license required
  • Graduate of a Physical Therapy Assistant program approved by the APTA
  • Holds a current Florida state license as a Physical Therapist Assistant
  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • 5 years of experience as a PTA, some prior leadership responsibility is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the evaluation of new patients, establishment of goals, and development of appropriate treatment plans.
  • Progresses patients through different levels of treatment within the patient’s maximum capabilities under supervision.
  • Documents all evaluations, treatments, and other pertinent patient interactions.
  • Provides relevant education to patients and families regarding medical conditions and gives them instructions for conducting home activities.
  • Utilizes treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Maintains effective communication with all members of the rehabilitation team.
  • Communicates with physicians and their staff to obtain additional information and suggests revisions in treatment.
  • Participates in quality and safety improvement activities.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal, local, and state guidelines and regulations.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • All duties and functions of a PTA I.
  • Assist in ensuring employee issues and patient needs are brought to the attention of the Clinic Manager.
  • Assist with unforeseen staffing challenges, absorbing caseloads, as needed and appropriate.
  • Work with department leadership and other team members to, quality improvement programs and operational projects.
  • Work with department leadership and other team members to implement effective marketing and PR activities, as needed.
  • Engage in professional development activities, continuing education, and advocacy for the profession of physical therapy.
  • Completion of 50 hours of live CEUs in relevant specialty area.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
