About The Position
Assists Physical Therapists in treating patients, prepares patients for treatment, and maintains the department in a clean and orderly fashion. The role also supports occupational therapy workshop activities as required and performs other duties essential to the department.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent certification within the first three months from the date of hire.
- Prior patient care experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
Responsibilities
- Assists Physical Therapists in treating patients.
- Prepares patients for treatment as directed.
- Transports patients to and from the department.
- Assists patients with dressing and undressing.
- Assembles and places equipment and supplies for use.
- Positions patients for treatment and assists with transfers.
- Assists the Physical Therapist with paraffin treatments and hot packs; helps patients in and out of the whirlpool and Hubbard tank; and guards patients during ambulation.
- Assists patients with using the bathroom.
- Assists professional staff with ordering supplies; orders linens and keeps the linen closet neat and orderly.
- Keeps equipment and the work area clean and orderly.
- Performs department-support duties such as taking messages, messenger duties, and attending in-service training.
- Transports equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds as necessary.
- Assists the O.T. workshop as required.
- Performs related duties as required.
