About The Position

Tryfacta is seeking a Physical Therapists for our client in Staten Island, NY 10305. This is a 2-year contract assignment. The role involves conducting physical therapy evaluations, developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, providing therapeutic exercises, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. The Physical Therapist will maintain accurate documentation in the EHR and ensure a safe therapeutic environment while adhering to hospital policies and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited institution and completion of an approved clinical internship or residency program.
  • Current and unrestricted New York State Physical Therapist license and BLS certification.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of clinical experience, preferably in psychiatric, behavioral health, or inpatient rehabilitation settings.
  • Experience treating patients with severe mental illness, cognitive impairments, substance use disorders, neurological conditions, and other complex medical comorbidities.
  • Strong skills in physical therapy evaluations, treatment planning, functional mobility, gait and balance assessment, fall prevention, therapeutic exercise, and pain management.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, behavioral de-escalation techniques, and the impact of psychopharmacological medications on physical function.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary healthcare teams and collaborating on treatment and discharge planning.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, problem-solving, and patient engagement skills, with proficiency in EHR systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced psychiatric setting while delivering patient-centered, recovery-oriented care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct physical therapy evaluations and assess patients' mobility, balance, strength, gait, and functional abilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve physical function, safety, and independence.
  • Provide therapeutic exercises, mobility training, fall prevention, pain management, and functional rehabilitation services.
  • Monitor patient progress, update treatment goals, and adjust interventions as needed.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care and discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Ensure a safe therapeutic environment and adhere to hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
