The Physical Therapist will carry out an individualized program of physical therapy including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, education, and communication to maximize a patient's progress toward achieving functional goals who have traumatic brain injury. This role involves adhering to professional, ethical, and legal standards of practice, providing direct supervision of Physical Therapy Assistants (PTA), and assisting individuals in identifying needs and developing appropriate physical compensation techniques. The therapist will assess the need for and recommend adaptive or assistive technology, provide specialized physical therapy and intervention programs, and develop staff and family training on specific physical therapy strategies. Coordination of treatment plans with the team, integration of employment, educational, and independent living goals into therapy, and working closely with consumers and PTAs to ascertain goals are key responsibilities. Services will be provided only as designated on each individual consumer’s plan of care. The role requires maintaining and submitting all documentation on time, educating families about brain injury consequences, and attending trainings to maintain up-to-date, effective, and evidence-based practice. The therapist will also be aware of departmental goals and objectives and take an active role in achieving them. Initial contact for referrals must be made within 48 hours to schedule an evaluation, to be completed within 7 days of referral receipt. Goals will be set for consumers with input from PTAs/consumers, and quarterly summaries related to goal attainment will be provided to regional rehab directors. The position requires adherence to Minds Matters policy and procedure requirements, including timely completion of all required documentation. Establishing and maintaining professional rapport with consumers, co-workers, referral agents, and community agencies, including attendance at planning meetings, is essential. Promoting public relations for Minds Matter, LLC, and willingness to serve on agency and interagency task groups are also expected. The role includes providing care and maintenance for Minds Matter issued devices.
