Requirements

Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of Oregon
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs
Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision
Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair
Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids
Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
May require periodic use of personal computer

Nice To Haves

At least one year experience as a physical therapist in acute care setting preferred

Responsibilities

Evaluates patients in terms of goals for physical therapy treatments/modalities
Establishes plan of care, in accordance with physician’s orders, to achieve goals; implements appropriate treatment modalities
Evaluates effectiveness of treatments, modifies care plan as needed to reach identified goals
Assesses educational needs of patient/family/caregiver and provides education to meet identified needs
Collaborates with interdisciplinary team during course of treatment and discharge planning to ensure overall hospitalization goals are met and patient is prepared to progress on the wellness continuum following discharge
Completes documentation that accurately reflects care provided and meets clinical, organizational, and reimbursement requirements
Oversees care provided by physical therapy assistants
Participates in performance improvement activities
Participates in peer evaluations
Orients new hires, students
Performs other duties as assigned
