About The Position

MUSC Health is hiring an outpatient physical therapist to help patients regain mobility, manage pain, and improve their quality of life. The therapist consults with and assesses patients, interprets evaluations and test results, and develops individualized rehabilitation and treatment plans. Treatment may include therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, joint mobilizations, soft-tissue mobilization, and modalities such as heat, cold, and ultrasound. The therapist also educates and coaches patients on exercises, stretches, and in-home treatment options, discusses recovery expectations with patients and families, and maintains accurate electronic medical records documenting patient goals, progress, education, and treatment-plan adaptations.

The position is based at the Therapy Occupational/Physical Clinic in West Ashley. It is a regular employee position scheduled for 40 hours per week.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
• More than one year of experience as a physical therapist.
• Current licensure as a Physical Therapist by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Responsibilities

• Consult with patients to understand their physical condition, symptoms, and medical history.
• Assess patients and interpret evaluation and test results.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and rehabilitation programs.
• Use therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, joint mobilizations, soft-tissue mobilization, and modalities such as heat, cold, and ultrasound.
• Educate and coach patients on therapeutic exercises and stretches.
• Provide hands-on therapy and pain-management techniques.
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records, track goals and progress, and document treatment-plan adaptations.
• Advise patients and their families on in-home treatment options and recovery expectations, and document the education provided.
