About The Position

MUSC Health West is seeking an outpatient physical therapist to help patients regain mobility, manage pain, and improve their overall quality of life. The role involves consulting with patients about their physical condition, symptoms, and medical history; assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; and developing personalized treatment plans. Therapists create individualized rehabilitation programs and use therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities such as heat, cold, and ultrasound. They also educate and coach patients on exercises and stretches, provide hands-on pain management techniques, maintain accurate electronic medical records, track goals and progress, adapt treatment plans to patient response, and advise patients and families about home treatment and recovery expectations.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
• More than one year of experience as a physical therapist.
• Current licensure as a Physical Therapist by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Responsibilities

• Consult with patients to understand their physical condition, symptoms, and medical history.
• Assess and interpret patient evaluations and test results.
• Develop personalized treatment plans and individualized rehabilitation programs.
• Use therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities such as heat, cold, and ultrasound.
• Educate and coach patients on therapeutic exercises and stretches.
• Provide hands-on therapy and pain management, including manual therapy, joint mobilizations, and soft tissue mobilization.
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records and track patient goals and progress.
• Document adaptations to treatment plans based on patient response and changing needs.
• Advise patients and their families on in-home treatment options and recovery expectations, and document the education provided.
