About The Position

MECA Therapies is seeking an enthusiastic Physical Therapist (PT) to join our pediatric outpatient therapy team. Our outpatient clinics provide individualized physical therapy services for children and young adults with orthopedic, neurological, developmental, and complex medical conditions. Therapists collaborate closely with Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and families to help each child reach their highest level of independence. The Pediatric Outpatient Physical Therapist evaluates and treats children from infancy through young adulthood with a wide variety of diagnoses affecting mobility, strength, balance, coordination, motor development, and functional independence. Therapists develop individualized treatment plans, provide evidence-based interventions, educate caregivers, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to maximize each child's success.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or qualifying Physical Therapy degree.
  • Current or eligible New Mexico Physical Therapy License.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills.
  • Maintain an active New Mexico Physical Therapy license and complete all continuing education requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric outpatient experience.
  • Experience with neurological, orthopedic, developmental, and medically complex pediatric populations.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide one-on-one pediatric therapy in a clinical setting.
  • Educate parents and caregivers on home exercise programs.
  • Collaborate with Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy teams.
  • Monitor patient progress and update treatment goals.
  • Complete documentation accurately and within required timelines.
  • Maintain compliance with licensing, HIPAA, payer, and MECA requirements.
  • Complete therapy documentation at the time of service whenever possible.
  • Submit evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, and required documentation within established program timelines.
  • Complete FIT evaluations within three (3) business days, unless prior approval for an extension has been obtained.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical records in accordance with HIPAA, payer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain an active New Mexico Physical Therapy license and complete all continuing education requirements.
  • Participate in mandatory company meetings, clinical trainings, and professional development activities.
  • Collaborate with and mentor colleagues as appropriate.
  • Provide family education to promote carryover of therapeutic interventions in daily routines.
  • Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs).
  • Supervise Physical Therapy students during clinical rotations.
