About The Position

A Physical Therapist plans and executes rehabilitation programs to help patients return to a higher level of physical function after an accident or surgery. They will often also help to manage or lessen the pain experienced by someone stricken with a degenerative condition or terminal disease. Physical Therapists help patients through a combination of physical activity, reflexology, massage, and muscular and skeletal manipulation. The PT collaborates with speech therapists and physical therapists to achieve the best outcomes for the patient.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited physical therapy program
  • Experience working directly with patients in a long-term care or hospital setting
  • Current Physical Therapist state license
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Possess documentation skills
  • Have excellent verbal communication
  • Provide satisfactory patient services
  • Be a team player
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served

Responsibilities

  • Consult with patients to learn about their physical condition and symptoms and review their medical history and referrals from providers
  • Diagnose movement dysfunction by listening to patients and observing them as they move about
  • Develop an individualized treatment plan
  • Coach patients and teach them therapeutic exercises and stretches to improve their condition
  • Use hands-on therapy such as massage to ease patients' pain and provide stimulation to promote healing
  • Keep detailed records relating to patient conditions, care plans, therapies, and progress
  • Report progress and current status to appropriate parties, which may include family members, providers, and members of the patient care committee
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
