About The Position

The Physical Therapist evaluates, plans, and administers individualized treatment programs to support patients with various cognitive and physical disabilities in achieving their highest level of functional independence. Care delivery is guided by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) standards, ensuring age-appropriate and patient-centered treatment. All responsibilities are carried out in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital, ensuring a patient-centered approach to care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in physical therapy
  • Licensure by the State of Florida as a Physical Therapist
  • Basic Life Support
  • Experience with Neurologic conditions
  • Must demonstrate a strong foundation in clinical skills, patient-centered care, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and various healthcare information systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, applying sound judgment in clinical decision making.

  • Travel may be required to meet operational needs at various locations

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients, plans care, provides treatment, assesses progress, adjusts goals and treatment plans, and makes discharge recommendations as per the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) guideline.
  • Ensures consideration of the age and developmental level of patients in all aspects of care.
  • Demonstrates current knowledge and expertise in patient care.
  • Responds to new evaluations within the specific time frame stated in the Policies and Procedures for various areas of work.
  • Remains alert to changes in patients’ conditions and the work environment, responding appropriately.
  • Provides accurate, timely, and consistent documentation of patient care, patient/family education, and response to care in the medical record.
  • Ensures all patient care goals are measurable and include a specific timeframe for attainment.
  • Plans, provides, and maintains a safe environment for patients, staff, and families.
