UPMC Home Health is hiring a Casual Physical Therapist for the Williamsport and surrounding area. This role offers a rewarding career where you can provide direct, one-on-one patient care in a home setting with a diverse patient population. You will have the opportunity to get to know patients as you guide their care in the comfort of their homes. You'll collaborate with a team of specialized nurses, rehabilitation therapists, social workers, dieticians, aides, and trained administrative staff to provide personalized patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a physical therapy curriculum approved by:The American Physical Therapy Association; orThe Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association; orThe Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Physical Therapy Association;ORPrior to January 1, 1996:Was admitted to membership by the American Physical Therapy Association; orWas admitted to registration by the American Registry of Physical Therapist; orHas graduated from a physical therapy curriculum in a 4-year college or university approved by a State department of education;ORHas 2 years appropriate experience as a physical therapist and has achieved a satisfactory grade on a proficiency examinationconducted, approved, or sponsored by the U.S. Public Health Service except that such determinations of proficiency do not apply with respect to persons initially licensed by a State or seeking qualification as a physical therapist after December 31, 1977;ORWas licensed or registered prior to January 1, 1966, and prior to January 1, 1970, had 15 years of full time experience in the treatmentof illness or injury through the practice of physical therapy in which services were rendered under the order and direction of attendingand referring doctors of medicine or osteopathy;ORIf trained outside the United States, was graduated since 1928 from a physical therapy curriculum approved in the country in whichthere is a member organization of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy;ORMeets the requirements for membership in a member organization of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Focuses on customer service and continually strives to perform the duties of their job in a manner that will result in optimal patient satisfaction.
  • Continually develop professional skills by assuming responsibility for ongoing continuing education.
  • Evaluates, plans, and treats patients in an effective Physical Therapy Program, including the use of modalities and assistive devices within the Standards of Physical Therapy Practice.
  • Identifies, develops, and participates in process improvement opportunities within the Agency’s Home Health or Early Intervention programs that will enhance the quality of services we provide.
  • Assigns and supervises the Certified Physical Therapy Assistant, if applicable.
  • Attend compliance training and adhere to the organization’s standards of conduct, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs duties and job responsibilities in a fashion that coincides with the service management philosophy of UPMC toward patients, visitors, staff, peers, physicians, and other departments within the organization.
  • Maintains and completes all required documentation, orders, and Point of Care or written, promptly and accurately within Agency and regulatory standards. Data syncs (transmits) information on the same day, if applicable.
  • Advises and consults with the family, inter-intradisciplinary team members, physicians, and other professionals, as appropriate, to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Provide physical therapy services and participate in the development of a physical therapy plan of treatment, including modalities, frequency, and treatment in collaboration with the referring physician for patients from birth to geriatrics to assist patients in obtaining maximum functional independence within the standards of physical therapy.
