About The Position

Mass General Brigham is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to patient care, research, teaching, and community service. The Brigham and Women's Hospital, a nationally ranked academic medical center, is seeking a Staff Physical Therapist for its Inpatient Acute Care unit. This role involves providing comprehensive physical therapy services to patients across various adult populations, including Orthopedics/Trauma, Cardiovascular, Thoracic/Pulmonary, Oncology, Neurology, General Medicine, and the Emergency Department. The position offers opportunities for professional growth through mentorship, continuing education, and participation in departmental committees. Therapists will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and have the chance to advance through a clinical ladder program.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program.
Current unrestricted license to practice physical therapy from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to manage a diverse patient population of varying diagnosis and case types.
Analytical abilities and sound knowledge in Physical Therapy to effectively manage a varied caseload demonstrating sound clinical decision-making and judgment.
Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to interact with patients, rehabilitation and medical team, and patients’ families.
Must be able to work with newborns to the oldest old.
Must demonstrate appropriate knowledge of the principles of growth and development.
Must demonstrate competency in examination/evaluation and treatment relative to age specific needs for the patient population.

Responsibilities

Examines and evaluates patient’s physical therapy needs.
Collaborates with the patient and/or caregiver to formulate a physical therapy diagnosis and develop a treatment plan with goals.
Demonstrates competency in clinical knowledge and skills specific to assigned patient case types.
Consults with other members of the health care team to ensure coordination and effectiveness of therapies.
Assists in implementation of triaging, prioritizing, monitoring admissions, referrals, and discharges.
Manages assigned patient caseload.
Participates in activities directed towards increasing knowledge and skill and professional development.
Participates in departmental meetings to formulate policies, procedures, and program development.
Supervises aides and other support personnel as appropriate.
Supervises students and other individuals seeking educational experiences related to physical therapy.
Performs other duties as assigned.
