About The Position

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is seeking a Physical Therapist for its Outpatient Ortho department in Patchogue. This role involves providing therapy to enhance mobility, functional ability, and quality of life. The successful candidate will utilize clinical expertise to plan and deliver safe, therapeutic, and age-appropriate care through examination, evaluation, diagnosis, and physical intervention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Physical Therapy (Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) approved PT program).
  • Current and valid NYS Physical Therapy license and registration or limited permit.
  • Current and valid BLS or CPR certification from the American Heart Association - Inpatient facility only.
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree Physical Therapy (Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) approved PT program).
  • Other Doctorate in Physcial Therapy (DPT) Physical Therapy (Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) approved PT program).
  • Current and valid BLS or CPR certification from the American Heart Association - Outpatient facility only.
  • 1- 2 years Hospital (Inpatient) or Orthopedic (Outpatient) Rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience in Neuro - Outpatient facility only.

Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Performs an objective functional evaluation including appropriate tests and measures and establishes a plan of care with measurable and functional goals.
  • Implements appropriate interventions treatment as indicated by the patient's functional status, diagnosis, and age in conjunction with the plan of care.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and timely documentation reflecting the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, plan of care, education and interventions.
  • Interacts and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes and health care goals. Provides on-site clinical supervision to Physical Therapist Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides.
  • Evaluates patient progress toward functional goals and modifies the the plan of care as appropriate.
  • Provides patient, family, and clinician education regarding the patient's functional status and plan of care.
