This position assesses, plans, organizes, and participates in rehabilitative programs to improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and decrease or prevent deformity in patients suffering from disease or injury. The role involves administering manual exercises, massage, and/or traction, and discharging patients when goals are met, ensuring appropriate follow-up care or referrals. The Physical Therapist will evaluate treatment effects, adjust treatments for maximum benefit, identify and document goals, and inform patients of findings outside their scope, referring to appropriate practitioners. They will also instruct patients and families in home treatment procedures and record prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient charts or computer systems. A review of physician referrals and medical records is necessary to determine diagnosis and required physical therapy treatment.
