About The Position

Evaluates and treats patients referred by a licensed physician in accordance with the Practice Act for the State of Georgia, the Guidelines for Professional Conduct of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and the APTA Guide to Professional Practice. Actively supervises and participates in the care of patients treated by Licensed Physical Therapist Assistants and Athletic Trainers. Complies with hospital policies and supports the mission and values of the hospital.

Requirements

  • Must be duly licensed by the Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy.
  • Must be a graduate of an APTA or other accredited school of Physical Therapy.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the principles and practices of Physical Therapy, including evaluation, treatment planning, modality applications, and all manner of therapeutic exercise and patient mobility treatments.
  • Must be knowledgeable of required documentation and billing that satisfies the Georgia State practice act, JCAHO requirements, and meets the requirements of Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurers.

Nice To Haves

  • Physical Therapists may have Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degrees.
  • Physical Therapists should have as a minimum, broad experience in a variety of different clinical settings through their APTA or other accredited clinical internship programs.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and treats patients referred by a licensed physician.
  • Supervises and participates in the care of patients treated by Licensed Physical Therapist Assistants and Athletic Trainers.
  • Complies with hospital policies and supports the mission and values of the hospital.
  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates therapy treatments with other therapy providers.
  • Works collaboratively with all other members of the St. Mary's Health Care System, including nurses, physicians, and hospital personnel.
  • Deals constructively with conflict.
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets data from a variety of sources and takes appropriate action.
  • Relates to physician referral sources and demonstrates excellent customer service.
  • Participates in clinical quality measurement and performance improvement programs.
  • Complies with all of St. Mary's Health Care System policies and procedures.
