About The Position

Evaluates and treats patients referred by a licensed physician in accordance with the Practice Act for the State of Georgia, the Guidelines for Professional Conduct of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and the APTA Guide to Professional Practice. Actively supervises and participates in the care of patients treated by Licensed Physical Therapist Assistants and Athletic Trainers. Complies with hospital policies and supports the mission and values of the hospital.

Requirements

  • Must be duly licensed by the Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy.
  • Must be a graduate of an APTA or other accredited school of Physical Therapy.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the principles and practices of Physical Therapy, including evaluation, treatment planning, modality applications, and all manner of therapeutic exercise and patient mobility treatments.
  • Knowledgeable of required documentation and billing that satisfies the Georgia State practice act, JCAHO requirements, and meets the requirements of Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurers.

Nice To Haves

  • Physical Therapists may have Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degrees.
  • Physical Therapists should have as a minimum, broad experience in a variety of different clinical settings through their APTA or other accredited clinical internship programs.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and treats patients referred by a licensed physician.
  • Actively supervises and participates in the care of patients treated by Licensed Physical Therapist Assistants and Athletic Trainers.
  • Complies with hospital policies and supports the mission and values of the hospital.
  • Plan, organize and coordinate therapy treatments with other therapy providers, most notably Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants (LPTA’s), Occupational Therapists (OTR’s), and Speech Therapists (SLP’s).
  • Work collaboratively with all other members of the St. Mary's Health Care System, including nurses, physicians, and hospital personnel.
  • Deal constructively with conflict; collect, analyze and interpret data from a variety of sources and take appropriate action.
  • Relate to physician referral sources and demonstrate excellent customer service.
  • Participate in clinical quality measurement and performance improvement programs as requested.
  • Be in compliance with all of St. Mary's Health Care System policies and procedures.
