At Special School District (SSD), physical therapists support students of all learning abilities by helping them build the skills needed to fully participate in school and daily routines. Through evaluations, individualized interventions, and collaboration with educators and families, you will help students improve mobility, strength, positioning, and functional independence while reducing barriers to learning and participation. In this role, you will develop therapy programs, recommend adaptive equipment, support staff with individualized techniques and strategies, and contribute to IEP planning and student goal development. Your expertise and care will help create safe, supportive environments where students can grow in confidence and access meaningful opportunities throughout their school experience. Physical therapists work during school hours, are generously compensated, and receive benefits, including insurance, paid time off and holidays, access to staff health clinics, and more. They are assigned to students, not locations, and regular travel is required between buildings and districts within St. Louis County.
