About The Position

Easter Seals of Greater Houston is seeking a Physical Therapist to provide in-home services in the Brazos Valley/College Station area for their Early Childhood Intervention program. This program is parent-driven and focuses on enhancing the development of children from birth to 36 months with developmental delays or disabilities, aiming to equip families with the tools to positively impact their children's development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
  • Continuing Education Units (preferably in topics relating to the Birth to Three population)
  • English communication skills including listening, speaking, nonverbal communication and writing
  • Physical Therapy License for Texas
  • 3 years' experience, including one year with infant/toddler population
  • Ability to frequently bend, squat, twist and reach
  • Able to handle and transfer patients weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Able to occasionally lift from floor up to 50 pounds, walk on rough ground, complete fine manipulation
  • Frequent repetitive pushing, pulling, and grasping up to 50 pounds
  • Maintain personal liability insurance
  • Willing to drive extensively in and around Brazos Valley, College Station and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

  • Assess developmental skills of assigned clients from birth to the third birthday by collecting information from case history, parent report, observation, and other professionals.
  • Interpret evaluation results, develop diagnostic impressions, and make recommendations.
  • Implement specific, reasonable, and necessary intervention plans for children experiencing developmental delays, atypical behaviors, and/or certain medical diagnosis based on evaluation findings and the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP). Plans must be written within 45 days of referral.
  • Schedule and prioritize direct and indirect service activities within established timelines, documenting professional contacts in a timely manner.
  • Provide direct services to children and their families at home, daycare, or other "natural environments". Services must begin within 28 days of writing the IFSP.
  • Complete all client paperwork, timesheets, expense reports, schedules, Random Moment Time Study (RMTS), and any other required paperwork, submitting them on time.
  • Become proficient in Providersoft and other agency software within 60 days.
  • Ensure maximum service delivery through management of an approved schedule, aiming for a minimum of 65 hours of services delivered monthly.
  • Communicate effectively with families, physicians, other agency representatives, co-workers, and the community.
  • Serve as the Service Coordinator for assigned clients.
  • Participate in the development and presentation of educational materials, in-services, and training courses.
  • Identify and refer children/families for related services including audiological, educational, medical, psychological, sociological, or other resources as needed.
