About The Position

The Physical Therapist is responsible for assessing patient conditions, establishing goals, treatments, and care plans in conjunction with the physician, patient, and family. This role ensures appropriate treatment is performed in an interdisciplinary fashion, consulting with physicians on the impact of physical therapy factors on patient health. The Physical Therapist will document findings, treatments, and other patient information for the medical record, and educate patients and families on appropriate care and the use of various therapies and exercises. This position also serves as an information and education resource for patients, families, and staff, supervises Physical Therapy Assistants and Technicians, and acts as a resource and provides ongoing education to Physical Therapy staff. Additionally, the role assists the director with patient care issues and maintains patient confidentiality. The job holder must demonstrate current competencies for the job position.

Requirements

  • Current state license.
  • Knowledge of physical therapy principles, standards, and applications.
  • Knowledge of clinic policies, procedures, regulations, safety/infection control, quality control.
  • Knowledge of how to use physical therapy equipment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Skill in appropriate evaluation and treatment of patients.
  • Skill in effectively communicating with in-house as well as external physicians and referral sources.
  • Skill in using a computer system/EMR to accurately reproduce all appropriate documentation.
  • Skill in accurate recognition of patient/clinic danger and appropriate fall risk patients.
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor physical therapy staff.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form.
  • Ability to be a resource to patients and staff.
  • Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.
  • Some bending and stretching are required.
  • Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.
  • Requires occasional support all size patients in transfers.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Demands of kneeling, squatting, overhead lifting.

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical Doctorate (DPT) preferred.
  • Two years of experience in an out-patient physical therapy clinic.
  • Experience with orthopedics is preferred.
