About The Position

This position is responsible for providing advanced specialty care in Physical Therapy. This position performs direct patient care, supervisory, educational and administrative functions and is responsible for marketing, program development and program implementation.

Requirements

  • Credential:BLS: Basic Life Support
  • Credential:PT: Physical Therapist
  • Clinical experience in the field of physical therapy as normally acquired through 5 years of experience working in a medical center environment or similar setting required.
  • Interpersonal skills needed to communicate effectively with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.

  • Three years of clinical experience at MyMichigan Health Rehabilitation Services preferred

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates the patient's function by performing formal/informal testing measures to determine the skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status.
  • Develops a goal specific treatment regime based on assessment data and the patient's tolerance to carry out the treatment plan as prescribed.
  • Submits a written treatment regime to be included as part of the plan of treatment authorized by and coordinated with the physician. Updates plan of care as needed to reflect changes in patient status. Cosigns verbal orders received by physical therapist assistant as necessary.
  • Devises a schedule of treatment, which is frequency and duration specific to be discussed with patient/family/caregiver and coordinated with clinical support staff.
  • Educates patient, family, and/or caregiver regarding pathology or condition, patient alternatives, prognosis, and rationale for treatment through forms of rest, exercise, modalities, and other indicated interventions.
  • Develops specialty programs, including protocols and marketing.
  • Participates in and/or provides in service education to meet ongoing knowledge needs of self and others, including physicians, staff members and community members.
  • Assists manager or supervisor with administrative duties as needed, and provide leadership in their absence.
  • Teaches in clinical and/or academic setting.
  • Mentors employees within own discipline.
  • Serves as Clinical Instructor for students.
  • Participate in shared governance, focus groups, and/or other administrative or educational teams.
  • Keep current with area(s) of expertise so that clinical care reflects best practices.
  • Maintains department productivity standards at or above target for at least 10 of 12 months annually.
  • Demonstrates high-quality documentation with minimal errors.
  • Demonstrates consistent attendance and schedule reliability.
  • Maintains patient satisfaction scores at or above 90% using FOTO scores for outpatient or demonstrates no recurring patient service concerns for the acute care setting.
  • Completes a minimum of two documented leadership, mentoring, or educational contributions annually.
  • Actively participates in at least one quality, operational, or service-line improvement initiative annually with documented outcomes or progress milestones.
  • Completes minimum annual CE requirements and one advanced professional development activity relevant to specialty role.
