About The Position

As a Physical Therapist at Ingalls Memorial Hospital, part of a world-class academic healthcare system, you will examine, evaluate, test, and work to alleviate mechanical, physiological, or developmental impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or other health and movement related conditions. This includes classifying disorders, determining a rehabilitation prognosis and plan of therapeutic intervention, and assessing the ongoing effects of interventions. Through an alliance with Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, the top rehabilitation hospital in the country, the hospital provides effective rehabilitation therapies combined with advanced academic health care. Staff also receive free access to UCM educational opportunities, the SRALab online Academy webinar catalog (over 190 on-demand and live rehabilitation specific courses), first access and free enrollment in live, in-person courses, and access to SRAlab resources and evidence-based practice tools.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program with minimum Bachelor’s Degree
  • Licensed, or eligible, in the state of Illinois with Notification of eligibility for examination.
  • Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients utilizing the advanced/specialized test and measurements; to determine the physical therapy problem/level of function and the expected discharge environment.
  • Promotes and has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate patient care protocol relating to the physical, psychosocial, and developmental needs of adult patients.
  • Establishes a treatment plan based upon the evaluation findings; and the patient/family, the referring practitioner, and therapist's goals.
  • Performs advanced/specialized physical therapy techniques and procedures.
  • Treats patients with complex problems ie. co-morbidities and/or poor previous out-comes; consults on difficult cases for staff and referring practitioners.
  • Documents findings; patient progress; and procedures performed, and time required.
  • Instructs patient/families in home programs.
  • Demonstrates effective time management; achieves designated productivity standard.
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations to assess musculoskeletal conditions.
