The Physical Therapist I provides outpatient rehabilitation services, evaluating patients and selecting and administering assessment techniques. The therapist synthesizes information to establish an appropriate care plan, including modalities, procedures, exercise programs, therapeutic groups, and patient education as warranted by a holistic view of the patient's diagnosis, condition, age, and discharge needs. The therapist gathers and interprets information from medical records, physician reports, patients, and families; establishes functional goals with patients; and provides evidence-based interventions. Ongoing assessment is used to adjust care plans. The role also includes documenting evaluations, treatment and progress, education, outcomes, attendance, discharge information, and charges; communicating progress to physicians, referral sources, and clinical staff; coordinating schedules and treatment programs; and planning discharges. Supervision of physical therapist assistants and rehabilitation technicians or aides is provided as required for licensure. This is a full-time outpatient clinic position, 40 hours per week, generally Monday through Friday. The schedule may vary based on clinic needs, and occasional Saturday coverage may be required. The work takes place in a fast-paced clinical environment, primarily indoors and occasionally outdoors. Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, demonstrating exercises, and lifting or transferring patients and equipment. Personal protective equipment may be required due to possible exposure to hazardous chemicals or blood and body fluids.
