This position provides 1:1 care, meaning no double booking, and demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assess, treat, and care for patients in the assigned area. The role involves implementing assessment, treatment, and care based on the developmental stages of the patient, interpreting verbal and nonverbal communication, and evaluating functional abilities/disabilities. The Physical Therapist will establish treatment plans, administer and instruct patients in treatment, and prepare patient records and billing. Collaboration with physicians, nursing, and other staff is essential, as is involving patients, families, and caregivers in the plan of care. Patient/family education sessions and self-directed programs are conducted, considering developmental needs. The role also includes assisting with the supervision of paraprofessional staff, students, and volunteers, utilizing correct body mechanics, and adhering to safety and infection control procedures. Participation in in-service programs, staff meetings, and educational programs is expected, along with assuming responsibility for professional growth and participating in the departmental Quality Assurance Program. Adherence to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies, and procedures is required. Various levels may have additional functions.
