About The Position

Rehab In Motion is expanding in Virginia and is looking for an experienced Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) who is enthusiastic about empowering clients with strength and independence. The ideal candidate is familiar with Independent Living, Assisted Living, Geriatric, and/or Outpatient settings and values flexibility, autonomy, and providing personalized one-on-one care. Rehab in Motion, an affiliate of Rehab Without Walls, is devoted to elevating the physical and emotional well-being of older adults through physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Their team's holistic approach integrates mindfulness-based interventions to address trauma, fostering increased independence, strength, and fall prevention. Tailored physical therapy and fun-filled exercise classes embrace the unique culture of every retirement or assisted living community they serve.

Requirements

  • Degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant training program.
  • Current Physical Therapist Assistant certification in state of practice.
  • Current Live CPR Certification.
  • Two-step TB skin test required.
  • Proof of Auto Insurance.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based therapy interventions.
  • Familiarity with assisted living, independent living, geriatrics and/or home health.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Moving, lifting, or transferring of patients which may involve lifting of up to 100 pounds following safety procedures.
  • Duties require fine motor skills, visual acuity, and walking/standing for extended periods.
  • Additional physical requirements include: pushing/pulling, bending/stooping, reaching, kneeling, and positioning frequently at times.
  • A health screen or examination may be required prior to assignment and periodically thereafter, depending on specific location policy, local and state regulations to verify employee is physically capable of performing assigned duties with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Physical Therapist in the implementation of treatment intervention.
  • Administer therapeutic exercises and activities to improve patients' strength, mobility, and function.
  • Providing training to individuals and any others involved in their rehabilitation, and documenting results of the training.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Supporting individuals' plan of treatment by documenting and reporting status changes to the multi-disciplinary team members as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
