About The Position

Canyon Springs Post Acute is seeking a dedicated and professional Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team on a PRN basis. The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant works under the direction of the Staff Physical Therapist to provide resident-related activities and direct resident care, ensuring optimal functional outcomes for our residents.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree from an accredited PTA program.
  • Must hold a valid Physical Therapist Assistant license in good standing with the State Board.
  • CPR certification (as required by licensure).

Responsibilities

  • Treat residents as directed by the Physical Therapist and educate residents, families, and caregivers on treatment goals, home exercise programs, and fall prevention strategies.
  • Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in accordance with facility, governmental, and third-party payer requirements.
  • Communicate routinely with the supervising PT to update physicians, nursing staff, and the interdisciplinary team on resident progress and discharge planning.
  • Maintain a safe environment by following infection control and safety protocols. (California PTAs must remain in accordance with California Laws and Regulations related to Physical Rehabilitation Manual Article 4 § 1398.44).
  • Recommend and facilitate the ordering of durable medical equipment (e.g., walkers, canes, splints) to promote resident independence.
  • Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides and provide in-service training programs for facility staff as needed.
  • Contribute to quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
