About The Position
Sage Group HealthCare Staffing is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant for a travel/contract position in St. Joseph, MO. This full-time role is for a 13-week contract in a Long Term Care (LTC) setting. The position involves implementing patient care components, gathering treatment data, and collaborating with the Physical Therapist (PT) to adjust care as needed. PTAs assist PTs in treating patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly. Responsibilities include helping patients with exercises and stretches, following PT instructions, working directly with the PT to assist patients, communicating with families about at-home techniques, maintaining a clean and organized therapy area, moving patients, and teaching balance training techniques.
Requirements
- Current Physical Therapist Assistant experience: 1+ years
- PTA License for State of Missouri or Compact
- BLS Certification from AHA
Nice To Haves
- LTC or Rehab experience
- Prior travel experience
Responsibilities
- Implement components of patient care.
- Obtain data related to the treatments provided.
- Collaborate with the PT to modify care as necessary.
- Assist the physical therapist in the treatment of individuals of all ages.
- Help patients stretch and exercise certain muscle groups.
- Read instructions from Physical Therapist.
- Work directly with Physical Therapist to assist patients.
- Speak with families to find best at-home techniques.
- Keep physical therapy clean and organized.
- Move patients from wheelchairs or walkers to physical therapy area.
- Teach patients techniques like balance training.
