Position Summary: The Physical Security Engineer – Programmer will work closely with the Senior Physical Security Programming Engineer and onsite technical team to program and configure door access, video surveillance, intercoms, etc., in addition to, supporting the network components of the physical security installation. Roles and Responsibilities/ Essential Functions: Work as a member of the HBS Physical Security Team that provides consultative and proactive project management support to HBS’s account base. Obtain knowledge on other technologies, as directed by customer demand. Serve both external and internal clients’ needs, understanding their concerns, and seeking to build trust. Provide sales consultants and fellow Engineers with physical security design assistance, review, validation, and optimization of systems and protocols. Contribute to product selection and research, configuration standards and best practices. Understanding of common vulnerabilities and associated risk mitigation strategies. Articulate complicated security concepts in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution across the spectrum of systems engineering and integration activities. Utilize internal and vendor resources to problem solve, determine, and document best path to resolution. Direct resources to team, report on progress, issues, and problem areas, as well as write and review technical documents. Attend and participate in weekly team calls as directed by the Team Lead. Recognize courses of action which can be taken to handle problems or potential problems and applying contingency plans to solve those problems. Work in a team atmosphere as both a leader and contributor as assigned to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals. At all times maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor. Manage tasks assigned effectively without supervision. Cross-Education/Mentoring of other Heartland Engineers or Technicians or related personnel. Meet annual billable hour goal, as defined by HBS.
