About The Position

You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN within NAVDRUGLAB JAX FL. Duties include processing forensic specimens by receiving samples, verifying all documentation, and entering data into a laboratory information system. You will maintain a strict forensic chain of custody by precisely labeling samples, inserting quality controls, and preparing all related documentation. You will identify and document any sample discrepancies using detailed coding systems and will separate specific samples for advanced confirmation testing. You will ensure a safe and orderly work environment by complying with all safety regulations, maintaining lab cleanliness, and restocking supplies as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Utilizing laboratory operations, procedures, and record systems
  • Measuring liquid and liquid transfers using laboratory equipment
  • Maintaining sample identification and inventory control using manual methods or computer technology
  • Following laboratory requirements and standardized operational procedures.
