About The Position

In this role, you’ll oversee general facility maintenance and construction while planning, coordinating, and directing the work of inmate crews. You’ll also apply your technical expertise by reading blueprints, preparing material takeoffs, developing cost estimates, and writing bid specifications. Requirements

  • Supervisory principles and techniques, including employee relations and work schedule
  • Structural issues regarding building and utility services, to include blueprints and safety practices and codes
  • All trades, i.e., electrical, electronic, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, general building, and preventative maintenance
  • Budgetary issues including estimating costs and ordering materials
  • Basic computer skills and software, e.g., Microsoft and Google suites
  • National and local building codes
  • Organization and scheduling of maintenance repairs
  • Establishing a Preventative Maintenance Program for the facility
  • Time management and organization
  • Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships
  • Written and verbal communication

  • Demonstrate use of common and specialized tools, equipment, and materials

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of experience equivalent to a Building Maintenance Specialist, or two (2) years equivalent to a Building Maintenance Technician II, or any combination of training and experience

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, plans, and directs the activities of subordinates and inmate crews
  • Reads blueprints, performs material take-offs, cost estimates, and written bid specifications
  • Calculates cost estimates for maintenance/construction projects, while working within budget constraints
  • Establishes and carries out preventative maintenance schedules on all equipment, mechanical equipment, and facility maintenance activities
  • Maintains records on all equipment/tools, repairs, and preventative maintenance
  • Completes related documentation
  • Drives on State business
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
