About The Position

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking an experienced and reliable individual to fill the Physical Plant Supervisor I position. In this position you will be routinely involved in general facility maintenance and construction, and you also will be responsible for planning and directing the work of inmate crews at the Arizona State Prison Complex (ASPC) - Tucson.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of budgetary issues including estimating costs and ordering of materials
  • Basic computer skills, Excel and MS Word to create forms, charts and conduct research
  • Knowledge of National and local building codes
  • Knowledge of structural issues regarding building and utility service system, to include blueprints and safety practices and codes
  • Knowledge of all trades, i.e., electrical, electronic, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, general building, and preventative maintenance
  • Knowledge of Supervisory principles and techniques, including employee relations and work schedule
  • Skill in written and verbal communication
  • Skill in organization and scheduling of maintenance repairs
  • Skill in establishing a Preventative Maintenance Program for the facility
  • Skill in supervisory skills
  • Skill in interpersonal skills, employee relations, time management
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all organization levels
  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
  • Ability to push/pull 50lbs
  • Ability to walk/run 0.25 miles
  • Ability to work in a prison environment
  • Ability to demonstrate use of common and specialized tools, equipment, and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and schematics
  • Ability to demonstrate methods and practices of preventative maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction
  • Must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license
  • Must complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks
  • Must maintain acceptable driving records
  • Must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)
  • Must undergo a medical evaluation as a condition of participation in the CORP

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of experience equivalent to a Building Maintenance Specialist, or two (2) years equivalent to a Building Maintenance Technician III, or any combination of training and experience

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, plans, and directs the activities of subordinates and inmate crews
  • Establishes and carries out preventative maintenance schedules on all equipment, mechanical equipment, and facility maintenance activities
  • Calculates cost estimates for maintenance/construction projects, while working within budget constraints
  • Maintains records on all equipment/tools, repairs, and preventative maintenance
  • Performs maintenance and construction duties on all facility buildings and/or equipment
  • Completes related documentation as required by policy and as directed by supervisor using basic office equipment/computer
  • Attends staff meetings and training as required
  • Drives on State business
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
